Our aim is to ensure total foot health for you and your family, achieved by means of preventative, routine and corrective treatments”.
Niki Thompson, BSc (Hons) Podiatric Medicine (University of Salford), Member of the Royal College of Podiatry and HCPC registered.
Niki has gained extensive experience working in the NHS at Salford Royal Foundation Trust, Pennine Trust and Private Clinics.
Niki has been looking to establish her own Practice for some time and is excited to be starting this new venture. She has been spending time at Marlborough Podiatry Clinic recently, meeting Christine’s lovely patients and ensuring a smooth handover of treatments. In the near future Niki will be providing home visits in the local area for housebound patients. Niki is also a trained Sports Massage Therapist and will be offering this as a treatment.
Having pursued Podiatry as a career, Niki believes Podiatrists in the UK and around the world should be more recognised for the differences they make in people’s life. She wants to be able to not just provide treatment but to educate others about the job role and why it is important especially to be able to identify the early effects of diabetes and reduced circulation in the lower limbs and how such conditions can affect the heart and the rest of the body.
Niki is no stranger to providing medical services and helping people. Prior to her being trained as a Podiatrist, Niki served in the Jamaica Defence Force and later British Army Medical Corp for over 10 years. Some of her responsibilities were to ensure other soldiers were fit and healthy, providing primary and secondary care, advanced first aid treatment and teaching other soldiers how to save lives and take care of themselves at home and abroad. Since leaving the Army Niki has also trained as a First Aid and Health and Safety Instructor and experienced working at the Broughton House Residential Care home for Ex Military Service Personnel in Salford Manchester. It is with this dedication and passion for helping others that Niki has decided to give back to a community that will benefit from Podiatry services.
Niki has admired the exemplary work done by others but especially Podiatrists such as Christine Stiles, former owner of Marlborough Podiatry Clinic and Owen Bernard (fellow country man and UK trained Podiatrist) who is an Ex British Army Medical Core Regimental Sergeant Major and Falkland Veteran currently working in a pivotal role at the Jamaica Diabetes Association and travelling to several countries to teach the importance of good foot health.
Niki enjoys running and staying fit and thinks it is particularly important to have healthy feet. Being an ex-Medic Niki believes that just as a soldier needs healthy feet to do vigorous activities so do members of the Marlborough community, who need healthy feet on a daily basis as well as to go about and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding countryside that the area has to offer.
Niki welcomes the opportunity of establishing new contacts with the members of the Marlborough Community and working together with other Professions to provide holistic treatment for her patients. Niki looks forward to meeting you.
